PTP Chris Orvin Endowment Fund

Start a Campaign

In 1990, under the direction of the World Missions Ministries Board, the Chris Orvin Endowment Fund (COEF) was established to help secure the future of People to People by applying the accruing interest towards the administrative cost.

COEF began with an initial $1,000 contribution by Chris Orvin and his friends. Chris Orvin, 1965-2008, was born with a genetic disorder known as Werdnig-Hoffman Disease, a type of spinal muscular atrophy. As a result, he used a wheelchair all his life. Chris was a substantial part of his parents, D. Sherrill and Velvalee Orvin's ministry. The Orvin's served the IPHC in World Missions as missionaries to Hong Kong for seven years, and D. Sherrill was the director of People to People for 25 years. Their son, Chris, was a charter member of the Wing Kwong PHC in Hong Kong, a faithful People to People supporter, and was a tremendous inspiration to many with his Christian testimony. The Orvin family now lives in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, where they continue to advocate for People to People.
